A friend just started taking classes and was assigned an exercise that involved a haiku.
We were discussing the haiku he selected and I realized I hadn’t written one in ages.
Deciding to choose a random book to determine my subject matter, I closed my eyes and groped the bookshelf. My hand landed on The Society of Mind by Marvin Minsky.
I remember discussing this book with my father. He was a psychologist. We were estranged for many years before he died.
Here’s my haiku:
Writing is striving
Your thoughts are ambiguous
Striving for nothing
